Man wakes up to find he drunkenly changed name to John Cena – and he’s not even a fan
How far would you be willing to go to win a bet?
One young man was recently bold enough to change his name after his friends dared him to do so during a night of drinking.
Lewis Oldfield, 23, woke up the following morning with a lot more than a fuzzy head, as he soon remembered he had splashed the cash to change his name to that of WWE star John Cena.
The professional wrestler, 44, has also appeared in a number of films, including the Transformers spin-off Bumblebee and the new Fast & Furious 9.
But perhaps the most amusing part of the whole thing – Lewis isn’t even a wrestling fan.
Speaking to The Sun, the restaurant shift leader from Bradford, explained: “We’d had a few drinks and were play-wrestling. We were just messing around, pretending to do announcements like in WWE and one of my friends was introducing John Cena.
“One thing led to another and they dared me to change my name to John Cena.
“I was going to get a tattoo saying it but did this instead. I always follow through with dares so I just did it.
“I’m not even a wrestling fan!”
Lewis continued to admit that he’d paid £40 for six deed poll documents as proof of his new identity for the bank and other organisations.
He also ordered himself a brand new passport, costing £75, to feature the wrestler’s moniker.
But what do his parents think about his sudden name change?
“My mum couldn’t stop laughing at me when she found out,” he admits.
However, he’s not yet been brave enough to tell his dad, who is apparently much “more serious”.
He’ll have to do it sooner or later though, as he plans to keep the name John Cena for the foreseeable future.
“I actually don’t mind the name so I’m going to keep it,” he added.
